Breitling Unveils Its 125th Anniversary Navitimer

Anyone who knows anything about Breitling watches will be already be familiar with the Navitmer chronograph. This iconic timepiece, first launched in 1952, has been coveted by anyone who appreciates the true precision and reliability of this COSC-certified masterpiece. In recognition of its 125th anniversary, the Breitling watch company has revamped and re-launched its legendary Navitimer model in a symbolic limited production of 125 pieces in 18-karat gold, and 2009 pieces in stainless steel.

Long considered the industry standard for aviators, the Breitling series of watches has remained faithful to its mission and history, but with one eye focused on the future of Swiss chronograph technology. This special edition timepiece features the exclusive chronograph movement that is certified to .25 seconds, and is enhanced by the legendary rigid Air Racer bracelet, which pays tribute to the original design from the 1960s.

In the opinion of many aviators, the Navitimer wrist instrument was the perfect model to choose in recognition of Breitlings 125 year history. Early on, this model became the official watch of the Airport Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Other models in their extensive mens watch collection include the Windrider, Aeromarine, Chronomat B01 and the exciting new Breitling for Bentley series.

Rugged, fashionable and highly precise, the Breitling Navitimer remains the industry standard for pilots and one of the best-loved luxury watch brands in the world. The saga of Breitling began in 1884, when a 24-year old Leon Breitling started the company in his hometown of St. Imier, Switzerland. His goal was to make the highest-quality technical timepieces, with a specialty in chronograph technology.

In 1942, the company introduced its first Chronomat model, which was followed by the Navitimer series. Also known as the Cosmonaute, this was the same watch worn by astronaut Scott Carpentier in space. The Breitling wristwatch was easily recognized as a status symbol by the late 1980s, and has been widely imitated by other companies.

This extraordinary 125th Anniversary limited edition collection from Breitling is made with an automatic 26 Calibre movement that is COSC-certified and includes functions for hours, minutes, seconds and date. This steel-cased chronograph is accurate to .25 seconds and has totalizers for both a 60-minute and 12-hour. Water resistant to 3 Bar, it features a convex sapphire case that is anti-reflective on both sides and a rotating bezel with a circular slide rule and counters at the three and nine oclock hours. It is a must have for all collectors and enthusiasts.
