Breitling Airwolf Continues To Fly High

By:

The Breitling watch company got started back in 1884 in the mountains of Switzerland as a company that made precision counters and chronographs for the scientific and industrial community. It wasnt until 1892, when the company moved to Chaux-de-Fonds, that they made their first foray into watchmaking, and not long after that, they emerged as an innovator in the watchmaking industry.

Today, Breitling watches are best known for being the time-keeping instruments of professional aviators, and the Airwolf is no exception. This Swiss-made mechanical chronograph contains the technology pilots need on the job, making it a must have for aviators.

But even if you are not piloting a plane, you will appreciate the aviator-grade technology included in the Breitling Airwolf. The high-tech gadgetry of the Airwolf includes the famous Calibre 78 movement, which is a 1/100-second SuperQuartz chronograph. It also includes a second time-zone, a handy countdown timer and a perpetual calendar with alarm. All of these features are packaged in a hefty, backlit case with easy to use push-sensitive controls. The whole case is topped with off a double-coated sapphire crystal.

The profile of the Airwolf is favored by pilots because it is ergonomically designed fitted to the wrist, allowing for easier manipulation of the controls while flying. The Airwolfs oversized hands are also well lit, making them highly visible during flight, and the caseback of this Breitling resembles the whirling turbines of a supersonic jet engine. In addition to looking great, this caseback design acts as a resonance chamber for the watchs audible indicators.

For the pilot or wanna-be aviator, the Airwolf is nothing short of a professional instrument. It uses a revolutionary electronic SuperQuartz movement, designed by a company that has long been recognized as a leader in Swiss mechanical chronographs. While it was created to meet the needs of professional pilots, the Breitling Airwolf doesnt scrimp on style. Everything on this watch plays a role in its superb functionality, but the ergonomics and agility of this timepiece make it look terrific on the wrist as well.

My personal favorite in the Airwolf line has a blue dial and a leather strap, but bracelets are also available in polished metal and sporty rubber. Whether you are a pilot or you just appreciate the technology that goes into Breitling watches, once you experience the functionality and design of an Airwolf, you will wonder how you ever got by without one.
