Based solely on the breed, he says that it is more difficult nowadays to figure out the temperament of a dog. What he blames for this is less quality in breeding.

For him, dog breeders who come together in the hopes of changing breed standards are nothing but cranks. He says that a person who is unaware of the results should not attempt to make changes to standards. But there's an emphasis now that the prize dogs should have some kind of the test before being named the best in the breed. This is to ensure that the dogs won fair and square.
