Breeding Tropical Fish In A Relaxed Fashion

Angelfish are very popular among tropical fish. In order to be qualified as an experienced fish breeder, you should be familiar with the breeding method used with angelfish. In fact, they are very easy to breed and you don't need to provide much care for this species.

Angelfish can take many faces. They have several colors like silvers, leopards and blushers. Therefore, you can simply breed only this kind and still have an aquarium full of colorful species.

For a tank of 33 gallons, you should house about six juveniles. The bottom should be left bare with no decoration. The pH level is 7 and the temperature should be set at 80f. There are many kinds of food you can use to feed angels: bloodworms, flakes and beef heart mixture.

As they grow to six to eight months old, they will begin to pick their mates. They may pick an area and start to defend. If you are certain that your fish have mated, remove them from the tank and move them to their own tank. You should use a 20-gallon tank. Make sure their tank is equipped with a good spawning site.

You should make sure the temperature is set at 82 degrees. This is the ideal degree for fish breeding. The belly of one of your angels should become swollen in the next five to eight days. This is the signal of a female. The papilla will appear on both fish but the papilla of the female is much larger than that of the male. You should see your female start laying eggs in the next few days. From now on, don't disturb the tank.

Prepare a notebook and take note which one lays eggs and which one fertilizes. Once the eggs turn white, you can be sure that the spawning process has been successful. If it has not, you should try again until you succeed.

The parents should be with the eggs to tend them. After two to three days the eggs will hatch. The newly hatched fry will wiggle for some time before freely swimming throughout the tank. You can use micro worms to feed the fry at this time.

You can leave the parents with their young for about three to five days. After five days you should remove the parents and feed the young separately. Now you can start the cycle again. Angelfish may sometimes be very demanding and require great care. However, as one of the most loved tropical fish, angelfish can make an ordinary tank look outstanding.
