Breast Augmentation Takes What A Person Has And Makes It Bigger

By:

Mammoplasty surgery will take what a woman has and make it larger. The goal of the surgery is to build a good-looking breast. One that acts, feels, and looks like that of a natural breast. The procedure will increase the size and the projection of a woman's breast. it will not be able to change the basic shape of the breast. And it will also be unable to address breast sagginess adequately.

A woman who would be the best candidate for a mammoplasty will be a woman who is looking for an improvement but not a perfection. If a woman is physically healthy and realistic in her expectations, then she would likely be a good candidate for a breast augmentation procedure.

Mammoplasty procedures are performed under a general anesthesia in a hospital. They will also likely be performed on an outpatient basis and sometimes will be performed in a surgical suite. Many plastic surgeons' methods of positioning after inserting the implant will be sub-pectoral. Sub-pectoral means that it will be placed under the pectoral muscle in contrast to sub-glandular or "on top" of the muscle. The incision that is created will typically be placed in the fold of the breast and the implant will usually be placed beneath the pectoralis major muslce. Actually, and incision can be used whether it is placed in the nipple, fold, or armpit. The procedure will be performed on an outpatient basis and will take roughly two hours.

Working though the incision that was created, the skin, pectoralis muscle, and breast tissue will be lifted to create a pocket for the breast implant. The breast implant will then be centered beneath the woman's nipple. The size of this implant will be determined by several things including your weight, height, reproductive history, rib cage and muscle structure, and skin envelope. This decision will not be an arbitrary decision of your or that of your plastic surgeon. During the consultation with your surgeon, you will determine what the best look for you will be. Your plastic surgeon will then apply this information at the time of your procedure to determine the best size of implant for you. This will achieve that look as best as possible.

The placement beneath a woman's muscle will be more painful for the first few days after the procedure, but it will usually be the best procedure to use with saline breast implants. The larger sub-pectoral pocket will allow for a more natural look, feel, and movement to your breasts. You will also be less likely to experience wrinkling. This will be especially true at the upper pole of one's breast.

Following the procedure, a woman is likely to feel tired and sore for a few days, but she will likely be up and around in twenty-four to forty-eight hours. She must restrict heavy duty exercising for roughly two to three weeks after the surgery. It will likely be recommended that no bra or support be worn for about two months because this will allow for the implants to settle into their desired position.

Most of the post-operative discomfort can be controlled through the use of medication. The swelling in a woman's breasts may take up to five weeks to disappear. The final results from the mammoplasty surgery will appear between three and six months after the surgery. It is vital that you remember that this is a process and it will take time for the final desired results to show up. A woman's breasts will likely be sensitive to direct stimulation for two or three weeks, so one should avoid any sexual contact. After that, the breast will be fine as the tenderness will abate. The scars from this procedure will be pink and firm for at least six weeks. Then they may remain the same sixe for several months, or may even appear to widen in size. After several months however, the scars will start to fade, although they will likely never fully disappear.
