Breaking The Stress Cycle

By:

How heavy is a glass of water, a lecturer asked his audience? The answers varied between 20g to 500g.

"The weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it," replied the lecturer."One minute is not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. It's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes".

He kept on, "And that's the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later the burden becomes too heavy to be able to carry on."

However, there some fun, but simple solutions that will aid you to crack the cycle of stress:

* Know that some days you're the statue, and some days you are the pigeon. There are some things in life you cant alter, so shift your focus off them.
* Just in case you have to swallow your words keep then soft and sweet. This is easier said than done, but slowing down your speech and deep breathing is always a great assistance.
* Never place both feet in your mouth at the same time, because you won't have a leg to stand up with.
* Nobody cares if you dont know how to dance just get up and give it a try. A lot of unnecessary stress is created through procrastinating.
* When everything's coming your way, you are surely in the wrong lane. At least attempt to alter lanes, or take on a different attitude.
* Birthdays are special. Plan something different on your birthday and shift the focus off your problems.
* Give someone you love a hug, for everyone needs to be loved from time to time. You will be amazed what a pat on the shoulder, or hand, can do for someone else. Take time out to pat the dog, or stroke the cat.
* Some mistakes are too much fun to be made only once. We all make mistakes. Stop hitting on yourself over those you made.
* Breathing deeply from your diaphragm instead of your chest will help you calm down and will give you time to think.
* We should all learn from crayons... Some are pretty and some are dull, while some are sharp. Some have strange names, all are different hues, but they all have to dwell in the same box. Learn to appreciate other peoples individuality and maybe they will appreciate yours.
* A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the view on a detour. Life is not a direct line from A to Z. How tedious that would be.

A major part of dealing with life and its numerous unexpected corners of stress, is to have a good laugh occasionally. It's the best stress reliever there is, next to getting a good night's sleep.
