Brazil Property Investments - The Only Way Is Up!

By:

Brazil property could scarcely be a better bet right now. So many factors have come together at once to make buying property in Brazil an investor's dream.

Let's start with the economy. Brazil is the world's fifth-largest country, with the fifth-largest economy and the fifth-biggest population, at nearly 200 million. So the potential is massive.

Now, thanks to President Lula and a stable democratic system, that potential is being realised. Inflation is down to a manageable 5% and foreign investment has been pouring in. GDP is rarely been so buoyant and big designer labels and multinational industries, such as Microsoft and Marriott, have moved in to Brazil.

Experts such as Goldman Sachs have said that the Brazilian economy is set to explode. It's a view backed by Standard & Poor, Moody's and Fitch, market observers that have all granted Brazil investment-grade status. In 2008, the country became a new external creditor. Add that to Brazil's position as one of the emerging, 'new-economy' BRIC nations Brazil, Russia, India and China and it's easy to see where the market confidence comes from.

Yes, the economic downturn affected Brazil, but the country recovered quickly. So much so that the Central Bank has said that 5% growth for the next few years should be easily achievable.

As if all that weren't enough to whet the appetite of anyone investing in Brazil property, the country has also secured the 2014 football World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games. As host to just one of these huge world events, a country could expect a massive boost to its economy. Traditionally, governments invest in infrastructure and outside investors pile in.

However, never before has a country hosted both events within two years. Now that Brazil has achieved that, the results could send the economy into overdrive. That's confirmed by Ernst & Young and the Getulio Vargas Foundation, which have suggested that just hosting the World Cup should inject around US$80 billion into the Brazilian economy.

For the investor in Brazil property, this is all good. But it gets better remember, the upturn in the Brazilian markets has come on top of all the other factors that already made Brazil great.

For example, the equator runs through northern Brazil. This means that the climate is far from shabby. In some regions, the annual temperature fluctuates between 23 and 28 degrees centigrade, which most people would regard as heaven.

The beaches, too, are wonderful in Brazil, and the cities of Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro have always drawn thousands of tourists. Bars, nightclubs and restaurants in the major cities are first-rate and all manner of watersports are possible off Brazil's stunning coastline.

So, where to buy Brazil property? Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo are the perennial favourites, with waterfront properties still well-priced at around 100,000. These major cities also have the advantage of being massive tourist traps.

But other destinations for the buyer of Property in Brazil are coming on stream. The north-eastern area of Ceara is increasingly popular, with its main city, Fortaleza, a World Cup host.

Fortaleza comes with 300 years of history and 3000 hours of annual sunshine. It's packed with bars, restaurants and shows. If you tire of all that, you can try out the great scuba diving and water-skiing opportunities of this stunning coastline or watch out for dolphins. You'll also find the world's largest waterpark nearby.

Another great place for Brazil property is Natal, an area of clean, warm waters and coconut groves. Delightful though Natal is, it's strange to think that tourists didn't start arriving here until the 1980s on the construction of the Via Costeira an 8km coastal strip that's a haven of hotels and restaurants. Investment has poured in since then.

Prices around Brazil's booming north east still offer great value, with studio apartments starting at 25,000 and land available for just 8000. Never has there been a better time to invest in Brazil property.
