Brain Food, For People

By:

Brain power is characterized by a few different things: alertness, concentration and energy. How alert, energetic and how much concentration power you have all stems from neurotransmitters.

There are different neurotransmitters that will have different effects on the brain. For example, serotonin is going to make you relaxed, calm, and maybe a bit fuzzy headed, but dopamine and norepinephrine are going to make you excited and alert. So what does that have to do with nutrition and zombies?

Well, zombies are the sort that don't think, because their diet doesn't consist of the right nutrients to promote healthy brain activity. Each of these neurotransmitters is going to be created from different amino acids you eat.

Amino acids are the building blocks of life, and we get them mainly from the proteins we eat. You might think that zombies should be pretty smart from eating so much protein packed brain matter; well the brain is not actually all that much protein.

In fact, they brain is 70% water and then a great portion of the rest of your brain is fat. So brain is not the thing you want to be eating if you are trying to get a really powerful and tasty brain.

Other things that are not so good for your brain: alcohol, any artificial colorings or flavorings, foods high in sugar, nicotine, and well any over eating. What these do is over excite the neurotransmitters in the brain, which cause them to short out, like a burnt circuit.

Don't worry, even though you can never replace a brain cell, you can create new neurotransmitters. It is like flexing a muscle, with the proper nutrition and exercise you could have a brain ripped with neurotransmitters.

Foods that you should eat besides lean meats like beef and salmon, because everyone knows those are wonderful for brain development, are things like avocados, almonds, soy beans and broccoli. Each of these foods is going to do a little something different for your precious brain.

Almonds are packed with organic proteins, which make for great amino acid content, but they also contain a different nutrient that is going to provide your brain with some real fortitude. This is called omega-3 and it is a fatty acid.

This means it is an acid that is only soluble in fat, which means it is ingested carried in the blood to the brain where it is then synthesized into beams to buttress existing neurotransmitters. Well that is the gist of it any way; the actual process is a little more complicated and takes some extensive knowledge of biological vernacular.
