BPO stands for Business Process Outsourcing. This is the latest trend for most businesses that delegates work to another company. Heres thorough information on BPO for better understanding of how it benefits todays businesses.

There are two categories for BPO, the Back and Front Office. The Back Office is more in the line of internal business tasks which includes billing or purchasing functions. There are certain risks involved in using BPO for companies in relation with the outsource outputs as well as managerial control. It differed with application service provider or ASP in line with provision of access to functionality as well as provided features limited to the use of software.

BPO companies are of three types: the Offshore Companies, Onshore Companies and the Near Shore Companies. When we speak of Offshore, they are the companies that are situated abroad and most likely in countries such as India, Philippines, China, Pakistan and more. The Onshore on the other hand is situated or based in the same country and provides outsourcing for US-based companies through Call Centers. The Near Shore BPO refers to companies that are situated very closely to the outsourcing companies. In example, US based company that opts for Canada-based services.

If truth be told, nearly all BPO companies found abroad provides call center services, data entry work, email answering services and telemarketing, to name a few. Such business strategy has its share of benefits and primarily it concerns lower labor costs.

For any businesses, having the privilege to same on expenses is good. Outsourcing makes it possible to operate at a very low cost. In the US, call center agents should be paid around $15 to $20 per hour while acquiring such service from the Philippines may only round it up at about $8 to $12 per hour for the same task of customer service or technical support. Just imagine how much the company saves on labor cost.

It is also an added feature among Offshore Companies to have their services available for 24/7. It serves as a real advantage over onshore call centers. In the Philippines, BPO companies are gaining the highest rate for employment, catering to conglomerates such as GE, American Express, IBM, Convergys, Aegis, Wipro and E4E.

Since BPO companies are very much in demand and there is a quality and reputation that needs to be maintained, they ensure that their workforce implements ISO, BS 7799, 6 Sigma, COPC or any other data security parameters.
