Boston Used Infiniti Dealership Offers Tips For Surviving Pothole-ridden Roadways

Despite the fact that most of us are ready for the arrival of spring by about December 26th, there is one characteristic of spring that is less than desirable potholes. To our neighbors who live in the south and do not experience potholes, consider yourselves very lucky. These unavoidable holes can wreak havoc on your vehicle and end up costing you thousands of dollars. However, although as your local Boston used Infiniti dealership we cannot promise to rid the roadways in and around Boston and our Boston used Infiniti dealership of potholes, we can offer you a few tips for surviving pothole-ridden roadways without losing your lifes savings.
The most obvious way to avoid damages from potholes on roadways is to swerve around the pothole. For roads with just a few crevices and little traffic, this policy works well. However, most of the time drivers do not have the luxury of avoiding potholes. Sometimes roads are so beaten up that your vehicles tires hit more stretches featuring rough pavement than smooth pavement, which unfortunately is the case with a good stretch of my to-work route.
In these unavoidable cases, the type of tire on your vehicle is utterly important. The trend in the auto industry as of late is to equip new vehicles with performance based tires. The middle of each tire is filled with large, shiny rims and modern day aesthetics tell consumers such a look is desirable. The Boston Infiniti G Coupe performance tires are a perfect example of this look. The base model of this vehicle comes standard with 18x8-inch tires but the upgraded sport trim level of the Infiniti G Coupe gets performance tires that measure 19x8.5-inch in size. The larger tire, in combination with larger rims, largely affects the integrity of the tire.
Thus, it is a good idea to decline the nicer tires, even if you do opt for a more expensive trim level when shopping at your local Boston Infiniti G Coupe dealership. If aesthetics are of the utmost importance to you, buy a cheaper (and less flashy yet more durable) set of tires and put them on your vehicle during the winter months and the first few months of nice weather while road crews work on getting the new potholes filled in. As an FYI, potholes appear in the spring has a reaction to the constant freeze and thaw that roadways endure through the winter months in colder climates. Additionally, the salt used to de-ice roadways eats away at the pavement, therefore aiding in the formation of crevices.
If the potholes have gotten the best of your wheels, and therefore your automobile, and some repairs are a necessity, you may not have to be responsible for 100% of the bill. The Insurance Information Institute recently released an article stating some insurance policies do cover part or all of the cost of repairing vehicle damage caused by potholes. Since many repairs to pothole damage can result in a bill of several thousand dollars, consulting your insurance provider and paying a deductible can often still leave you money ahead.
In closing, it seems that as long as we continue to build our roadways out of cement or concrete and use salt to de-ice them, roadways in climates that experience freezing and thawing will always suffer from potholes. Consumers will not be able to avoid each and every pothole, but by taking the above advice drivers can drastically reduce the costs of a pothole and therefore find peace in the fact that winter does bring potholes, but also beautiful white landscapes.
Or, one could always move to Florida.
