Boston, known for its vast selection of activities and festivities to celebrate art, culture and life, has had a tremendous response for the Boston Early Music Festival since its inception in 1980. The annual concerts and biennial festivals have earned Boston the reputation of being Americas early music capital. The organisers are also known as the premier organization conserving and presenting music from the Medieval, Baroque, Renaissance, and Classical periods.
Among the opera masterpieces that have featured time and time again at the BEMF festival is Handels Acis and Galatea. This performance is presented in fitting period costume as well as with period instruments.
The festival also brings together producers of early music style compositions, CDs, manufacturers of period style clothing and instruments, rare book dealers and much more.
