Bored With Your Fitness Routine

Bored With Your Fitness Routine

By:

Remember when you first started your new fitness routine? You invested in new workout clothes, prepared a meal plan and wrote down your future goals. You imagined how good you were going to look in that newly purchased outfit for the big event. The outfit that you bought a few sizes too small in anticipation youd fit into it perfectly by the time you needed to. Youd wake up before your alarm clock as you were excited to get your workouts completed, knowing that would make you one step closer to your goal. Ahhhh, its such a novelty at first that it just feels so easy to stay on track. The last thing you anticipate is getting bored with your fitness routine and falling back into your regular rut. It does happen though, to most of us at some point.

What are the signs to look out for and how can you prevent the boredom from affecting your routine?

1. Your fitness routine bores you.

Your workouts use to energize you. You would put 110% into every weight lifting exercise. Youd break a sweat within the first 5 minutes and wouldnt fall short on any of your sets. Now it takes everything you have just to get started. STOP. Time to change it up. You need a new program. If youre not changing aspects of your program every 3-6 weeks, youre not going to see additional changes. Its like eating a tuna sandwich everyday at lunch. Eventually the sight of tuna will lose your appetite. The minute youre not eager to start your fitness routine, time to change it up.

2. No Results

If youre working hard and not getting results you need to change your program up immediately. Dont whine about the shoulda, woulda, couldas. Dont spend one more minute lifting a weight if youre not getting results. If you cant figure out how to change it, seek the experience of a professional. And think of your goal often it really helps bring that focus back as well as your ambitious nature to reach it!

3. Your fitness routine is leaving you sore

If you find that after every workout you feel tired and your body feels burnt out, chances are youre overtraining. This is not going to get you the results you want any sooner and also increases your risk of injury. So if you losing momentum based on feeling crappy after your workouts, try cutting them back to 2-3x a week. Your body will thank you!
