Bored Preppies, Husbands Who Stray And Illegal Immigrants Can All Be Candidates For Murder

These 'snapshots" cover the second 3 episodes during season one of the popular television series "Castle". Mystery writer Rick Castle and NYPD Detective Kate Beckett join forces to find the culprit in three mysteries - "Hedge Fund Homeboys" "A Chill Goes Through Her Veins" and "Always Buy Retail".

Hedge Fund Homeboys - 3 Stars (Good)

When you mix 5 students from an exclusive New York City prep school with alcohol and drugs on a late night in Central Park, something bad will eventually happen, like being killed in an apparent drug deal gone bad. When the surviving students finger a drug dealer, it looks like a slam dunk, but what appears simple suddenly becomes very complex as the students cover for each other knowing that one of them pulled the trigger.

When it turns out that the shooter unknowingly killed his best friend, we realize how clever and smart rich kids can be. Learn how the technology that allows the murder eventually exposes it as Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) and murder novelist Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) peel away the incriminating clues in this Episode 4 of Season 1. Bonus: See how Castle punishes his daughter Alexis (Molly Quinn) after she chooses to fess up about lying to him following a father-daughter talk.

A Chill Goes Through Her Veins - 4 Stars (Excellent)

This "Castle" episode gives new meaning to the term "on ice". Imagine a husband not needing a car because he lives in Manhattan in the Big Apple, and he is having an affair. When his wife finds out, he quarrels with her, kills her in a fit of rage and, with his young daughters asleep in the next room, must figure out how to move her body out of the high-rise apartment.

Five years later, his wife turns up frozen solid at a construction site, but the same husband was murdered a year earlier during a robbery at a store. Detective Kate Beckett has a problem - she has a double homicide with two victims that have been dead for years. What happened? Beckett and mystery writer Rick Castle must reconstruct the who, where, when, why and how of both murders in this Episode 5 of Season 1.

Bonus: Castle deduces why Beckett became a cop in the pilot of this series. Now find out who Beckett lost that was close to her, and why the hard-nosed detective becomes so emotional when investigating this puzzling case, which also becomes the first time that Kate Beckett cannot solve the mystery without author Rick Castle's help.

Always Buy Retail - 3 Stars (Good)

Illegal immigrants, exotic rituals, brutal murders and knock-off purses lead Detective Kate Beckett and mystery novelist Rick Castle on a frantic chase through New York's Canal Street marketplace in an effort to stop a madman in his pursuit to recover something he desperately wants. But what?

There is no seeming connection between the murder victims to suggest a motive or what the contraband might be. Turns out that some paper can move people between countries and, if they want to move badly enough, they will kill to do it. See how Castle reacts when he is in the middle of his first fistfight in this Episode 6 of Season 1.

Bonus: Find out what happens after Castle has a tryst with his ex-wife (the mother of his daughter Alexis), and what Castle wants from Detective Kate Beckett after saving her life.

These second three episodes of the Castle series find an unspoken attraction beginning to develop as Castle's joking clashes with Beckett's focused attention on the challenges at hand.
