Teaching English abroad isn"t just about getting paid to see the world. Oh no, unlike other long-term travel options it can give your career a boost. Read on to find out how:

1) Learn how to lead the pack

If you want to become one of tomorrow"s leaders, teaching could be just the course you need to learn how to keep people in check. Your TEFL course will give you a great insight into how to keep your classroom under control, but you learn this in real life as soon as you step into a TEFL classroom for the first time. It"ll probably be one of the hardest things you"ve ever done, but if you can keep a class of boisterous kids under control, managing employees will be easy! 2) Learn how to task juggle

Most new teachers have a mixture of different classes and ability levels, meaning you"ll have lots of practice at juggling and prioritising different workloads "" which is essential to make sure you don"t do Tuesday"s lesson plans before Monday"s and essential for when (and if) you swap your classroom for an office.

3) Develop world-class communication skills

One of the main beefs employers have with today"s young "uns is that they lack the ability to communicate ideas effectively and work with people under difficult circumstances. 4) Speak a new language

You don"t need to speak another language in order to teach abroad, however, living in another country is a fantastic opportunity to pick up another language, which can be a real bonus if you want to get involved in international business later on. If this is your aim, you should look at going to either China or Spanish speaking countries - not only are they great TEFL destinations with lots of jobs available, you"ll also be massively in demand if you"re fluent in Spanish or Chinese.
