Books - The Better Form Of Entertainment

By:

When is the last time you picked up a book and read? Before the great invention of the television, reading was one of the main sources of entertainment. Kids would spend a great deal of their time reading and collecting comic books. This was a good way for them to stimulate the brain by using their creative imagination. Modern kids now spend countless hours in front of the tube watching their favorite shows and playing one of many video games available today. Adults also lost themselves in a great fiction, mystery, or romance book.

A lot of great works of literature have been created into movies or plays. Even though these stories have made some great and some not so great movies they can not compare to the book. The movie can have all the suspense, drama, and all the other key components that made the book good, but it will always lack the viewer's own personal creative touch. A book gets the readers using their imagination and no two people will have the same exact image in their head no matter how descriptive the writer is in his story. Every reader's image they see will be based on their own personal preferences, making that story more appealing and harder to put down.

For example, a great piece of literature of all time is The Lord of the Rings trilogy written by J.R.R. Tolkien during World Ward II. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy was created into 3 great movies by director Peter Jackson who paid close attention to detail and stayed close to the story, unlike a lot of other movies. Even though the movies were a great hit it will does not the imagination factor that comes only with reading the books.

Many other books and even comic books have been adapted to the big screen. Famous comic book superheroes, such as Batman, Superman, Spiderman, and the Fantastic Four, have gotten their own time on the big screen. Classic books by famous authors, such as Jane Austen, Stephen King, and J.K. Rowling, have had the privilege of sharing not only their books with the world but also the films.

Before picking up that remote to turn on the TV for another dose of reality TV or before you start playing another rousing video game, pick up a book instead and get ready to be immersed in a completely different world that no piece of technology has not been able to do.
