Blessed with magnificent spectacle and rich cultural heritage, the island of Bohol has become the tourism haven in the heart of the Visayas. Its famed geographical formation, the Chocolate Hills, is made up of about 1,776 limestone mounds. The domes are covered in green grass, which fades into brown during dry, hot seasons. This change brought forth its name- Chocolate Hills, the provinces most popular attraction.

The clean, white sand beaches of Bohol have been one of its priced panoramas. The Panglao Island, located just southwest of the provinces capital, Tagbilaran City, allures people with its clear cerulean waters and rich aquatic life. Its pristine marine biodiversity is thrived with about 250 new species of crustaceans and 2500 new species of mollusks. Panglao, with its abounding water life and unsullied coral reefs, is renowned for its diving spots and has become a top tourist destination in the Philippines.

Bohol not only delights its immaculate coasts and beaches but takes pride with its cave wonders. Its most famous cavern is the Hinagdanan Cave located in the Panglao Island. This underground cave boasts its rock formations and its deep, cold lagoon. The holes in its ceiling filter the suns rays which fashions a mystic setting inside the cave. The number of caverns in the Island of Bohol counts to about 1400. Most of them are found on the coastal areas; some are on the provinces inland, but are mostly positioned near bodies of water such as rivers and streams.

Verdant woodland in Bohols interior is one of the provinces treasures. Its Man-Made Forest, the two-kilometer stretch, mahogany-bordered road, links the towns of Loboc and Bilar. Cold breeze and cryptic atmosphere emanates in the area for the tall, dense trees cloak the road with cool, dusky shades.

Bohol, as a province with lush groves and dense vegetations, homes one of the worlds rare primates, the tarsier. They dwell in the vast 134-hectare sanctuary, sprawling amidst the towns of Sikatuna and Corella. These creatures grow not larger than the adult mans hand. They are active at night, hunting insects for food.

The Island of Bohol does not only gain prominence on its grand vistas and exotic faunas but earns distinction on its rich culture and historic legacies as well. In the province stand old-age churches, dating back to the Spanish colonization, and ancestral homes, built during the late 19th century. These architectures depict historical and religious significance that ushers the Boholano culture and lifestyle.
