The idea of exercising, developing muscles and keeping the body fit is the thought behind bodybuilding. People who are not looking for a muscular body and just want to stay fit can go for other forms of exercise. For muscle building you need to have a diet with the correct calories. Weight lifting is a very good way of building strength as well as muscles. You must talk to your doctor before starting any exercise routine.

People who want to keep their body fit without building muscles can do exercises like:
running
walking
aerobics
a different exercise routine

There are some things which have to be done to be successful at developing muscles like:
eating a good diet
providing extra calories that your muscles need to grow
gaining weight in essential areas
starting a weight lifting program

There are some benefits in weight lifting repeatedly like:
building strength
muscle development
health improvement

The best way to do it is to begin with smaller weights and increase them slowly for stronger muscles. When it is practiced for a long period of time this method will gain mass on the muscles in the body in the right places. If you workout your legs, this will increase the muscle mass on the leg muscles and if done for arms, you will end up with muscular arms. The whole concept behind bodybuilding is to grow the muscles.

There are several kinds of exercises that will help you add to the size of your muscles. If you measure the muscles before starting the weight lifting, you will be able to see the changes. You must also measure your weight before starting. It is normal for the weight to increase with the increase in the mass of your muscles. Talk to your doctor before starting any weight lifting program.
