Bob Dylan Prints On Sale

Art enthusiasts will have the chance to buy Bob Dylan prints throughout the United Kingdom this month.

The collection of Bob Dylan prints are based on the musician's The Drawn Blank Series, which was created between 1989 and 1992 whilst Dylan was travelling on tour.

Dylan painted the artwork between 2007 and 2008 and this is the first time that this limited edition collection has ever been published.

He said: "I was just drawing whatever I felt like drawing, whenever I felt like doing it. The idea was always to do it without affection or self-reference, to provide some kind of panoramic view of the world as I saw it."

This series of limited edition graphics are hand signed by the American artist and each one has been personally approved by Dylan himself.

The Bob Dylan prints include portraits, interiors, landscapes, still lifes, nudes and street scenes, which were done by the artist in a bid to "relax and refocus a restless mind."

Dylan was encouraged to use watercolour and gouache to recreate the hand drawn work by Ingrid Mössinger, the curator of the Kunstsammlungen Museum, in Germany.

Mössinger came across 'Drawn Blank' during a visit to New York in 2006 and successfully arranged for Bob Dylan to have his art exhibited in public for the first time.

Bob Dylan prints have been critically well received with many commentators impressed with his versatility.

Tobias Rüther, of Frankfurter Allgemeine newspaper, was positive in his appraisal of Dylan's work and that the American's artistic abilities were comparable his musical genius.

He said: "That which he's done for years on the stage - performing new versions of his old songs in order to give a fresh interpretation - he's now continuing on deckle-edged paper."

Art fans interested in the collection are urged to act fast as in previous years Bob Dylan prints have sold out quickly, with last year's series selling for around £1,250 each, reported NME magazine.

The Bob Dylan prints will be exhibited at selected galleries from May 22nd at events hosted by Washington Green Fine Art Publishing.

Fans of Bob Dylan will be able to see the man in action when he headlines the Hop Farm festival in Kent in July alongside Blondie and Van Morrisson.

Welsh crooner Tom Jones recently revealed that his cover of the Bob Dylan song 'What Good Am I' would be the opening track of his new album 'Praise and Blame'.
