When you do this, it will help repel the dangerous elements that can be in the water caused by floods and wind. When you put sand bags around your house, it helps keep the water from getting to your house, but it depends on how high the water gets whether or not they will be completely affective.

You can board it from the inside out so it will have extra protection from the water and wind.

Make sure you have flood insurance so if water gets in, you will be covered for the damage and it will not cost you an arm and a leg to clean out. Sometimes floods can be very bad and if you even suspect that the re is a possibility of flooding because of rising water in your area or because a hurricane is expected to make landfall, then boarding up might sound a little extreme, but it is much better to do the extreme rather than nothing at all and suffer the dire consequences that might take place.
