Bmw To Sell 640i In The Us

BMW has recently confirmed that they would be selling the coupe and convertible version of its 6-series that is powered by a six-cylinder engine. This version is expected to reach BMW dealerships in the US by fall. This simply means that this version of the 6-series would soon be included on the German automakers new car prices list in United States. Due to this, car finders would surely be waiting for the applicable auto loans that BMW dealerships might offer for this vehicle.

The confirmation just came shortly and this has caught most car buyers by surprise since BMW has previously announced that they would only offer 650i in the US. The 650i is another version of the 6-series that uses a 4.4liter turbocharged V8 that delivers 400 horsepower for the NA-trim while the EU-trim delivers 407 horsepower.

However, BMWs plans have changed and one of the results of these changes was the decision to deliver the 640i to its US dealerships instead of offering this version exclusively in Europe. The 640i is also included on the 6-series together with the 650i but these versions only differ in one particular aspect which is the engine.

The 640i is powered by a 3.0liter turbocharged inline-6-cylinder engine that is smaller than the V8. Given this, the 640i has lesser power output compared to the 650i. The 640i cranks 320 horsepower at 5800 horsepower and about 332 lb-ft of torque when running between 1,500 and 4500 rpm. This could also accelerate from 0-60 miles in 5.4 seconds.

Based on the performance of the 640i in the Europe, this vehicle has a combined fuel economy which is around 30.6 mpg. This is more efficient compared to the 650is 23.1 mpg record. In terms of emission, the 640i emits 179 grams/kilometre of CO2 which is lesser compared to the 650is 243 grams/kilometre.

Given these features, the BMW 640i could be a good option for US car buyers who want to own one of the members of the 6-series that is more fuel efficient. This could be a good move from BMW since the prices of gasoline continue to increase and buyers would most probably settle for a more efficient version to cut-down their annual fuel expenses.
