BMW has long been searching for ways to produce pioneering vehicles that would leave their marks on the automotive industrys history. With this, goal, almost all of the personnel involved in designing and producing the companys vehicles never fail to look for new concepts that would be used for the future car models. This was probably one of the reasons why most
car finders who want to own a BMW vehicle are patiently waiting for the companys release of their latest model as well as the
auto financing options offered to finance each one of these.
Just recently, the German car maker has unveiled another car model that would also be launched this year in an event dubbed as the BMW M pre-race event. The unveiling of this new car model happened a few days before the Nurbuging 24-hour race. As expected, spectators and other observers were delighted with the vehicle that was introduced in the event. However, a few of them were quite sad when the company announced that the car which is called as the M3 CRT sedan would only be produced in a smaller quantity or 67 units worldwide to be exact.
What made these individuals sad is that they only a have a slim chance of buying the special or perhaps the limited edition of the M3 CRT sedan that is very lightweight yet powerful. The M3 CRT actually looks like the M3 sedan but most of the features of the M3 GTS Coupe are incorporated in this.
This model is also unique since it is very lightweight. Thanks to BMWs use of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP). By using CFRP, the M3 CRTs weight was reduced to about 3483 pounds allowing this to run at higher speeds without the need for the engine to exert more efforts.
This particular model marks the debut of using the CFRP by the automotive industry worldwide. This material would soon be used in other models such as the upcoming hatchback version of the i3 EV as well as the hybrid sports coupe version of the i8. With this brand-new strategy, it is expected that BMW would emerge as one of first car makers to produce cars with CFRP and lightweight metals on their vehicles that every lightweight
car finder would like to own.
