Bmw E87 2002, A Brief History - Ideal Engines

The BMW E87 is a hatchback; one of the iconic BMW 1 Series introduced in 2004. The first impression you get from the machine is an air of solidity. The 1 series is significantly different from other models in its class mainly because it features fantastic rear-wheel drive, a well built, longitudinally-mounted engine and an extremely advanced aluminum multi-link suspension. One of a kind, it is the only rear wheel drive car in its class. It is currently the second best-selling automobile in the BMW family and has been accounted for nearly one-fifth of the total sales in 2008.
The E87 was the very first in the BMW 1 Series and was produced by the German automotive giant at Leipzig, Germany and Regensburg in Germany. It was initially introduced as a little family car, as it is the smallest car in the BMW range. Launched as a 5-door hatchback with the model E87, an extremely impressive 3-door version was later introduced in the month of July 2007 called the E81. A replacement for the E46 3 Series Compact, the E87 proves to be a wise choice. Like all BMWs it is superbly engineered and incredibly well-built inside and out.
And this E87 model has shared many components with the BMW model E90 3 Series, such as MacPherson struts in the front of the car, and a trapezoidal-link rear axle. And because of that BMW has stated that the model E87 shares over 60% of components with the current BMW 3 Series E90. The model E87 also has the same types which can be found in the model E81, namely the 116d, 116i, 118d, 118i, 120d, 120i, 123d and 130i.
The BMW 1 series E87 hatchback model has a fascinating of straight 4 and 6 cylinder, 4 valve engines matched with 5 or 6 speed manual or optional 6 speed automatic transmission. With petrol and diesel fuel options, the E87 provides owners with many choices. The models with petrol fuel options have tanks with the capacity of 53 liters while the diesel models have tanks with the capacity of 51 liters.
And the 1 series BMW E87 model reaches its top speed of 250km/h from the type 130i. This vehicles Curb weight can be considered as in the range of13301495 kg.
It certainly cannot be classed as the most spacious of cars, especially for rear seat passengers where there is a definite dearth of leg and headroom for adults. The boot is adequate and a large tailgate translates into carrying some large loads. Practically, there are far better cars available, but as hatchbacks go, the 1 Series is one of the best all-rounder with a fantastic choice of efficient engines
