It is crucial that the rectal bleeding source is located accurately in order to start an appropriate treatment, which will fix the problems cause.

Causes for blood in the rectum
The causes that are most common for the appearance of minor rectal bleeding are called anorectal disorders.

- Hemorrhoids these are rectal veins that are swollen. They are located in your rectal area and anal canal and might cause bleeding, painful discomfort and burning. External hemorrhoids are tiny swellings, which are easier to spot. They often are really painful and come with anal itching. Internal hemorrhoids, on the other hand, are painless and noticeable only when you are having bowel movements. Hard stools and strains when you are having bowel movements are common symptoms resulting from the hemorrhoids swelling (thrombosis). The treatment focuses on the relieving of these symptoms through the usage of stool softeners and bulking agents.

- Anal fissure anal fissure is a tear located in the rectums lining. It is commonly caused by the passing of hard stools. Having an anal fissure often leads to rectal bleeding. You should expect moderate or severe pain accompanied by blood in the rectum caused by an anal fissure due to the exposed vessels and nerves. The pain is expected to worsen during bowel movements. Treatment is mostly the same as with hemorrhoids softeners, bulking agents, high in fiber diet, frequent baths with warm water and pain control.

- Infection a common source of infections is bacterial dysentery. If there is an infection, you should expect bloody diarrhea fever and abdominal pain. Treatment for this rectal bleeding is applied through antibiotics.
