Block Adware Pop Ups

By:

Trying to use a computer on the internet with adware pop ups allowed can be very annoying and may drive you mad. When you are trying to do some actual work, these pop ups are an unwanted distraction and take up time while you deal with them. Getting rid of these annoying pop ups is usually fairly straight forward and there are various ways to deal with such problems.

These problems can normally be dealt with yourself, an IT specialist is not required. The options in the computer settings will usually provide a method to get rid of the adware issues. If there is malicious adware software present, however, the problem is more difficult to rectify.

The facility to block adware can be found within the privacy settings. Within the Start menu there is the Settings tab. Go here then to Control Panel. You should see an icon for Internet Options. Once you are in Iternet Options, you will see a tab for Privacy. Here, there is a tick box to check for 'turn on pop up blocker' so check this. This should prevent any more problems from adware pop ups if there is no additional adware software installations to deal with. Another measure to add some additional security is to install the Google and MSN toolbars to your browser.

It becomes more complicated to block adware when spyware software has installed itself on the computer. After the settings have been set to block spyware, it should be eliminated. If not, there is probably a malicious program on the system. Spyware programs may show some signs, which you can use as clues. For example, has the home page on your browser been automatically changed?

To clean out your computer of spyware, there are some good spyware removal applications. For example HiJack, IE-SPYAD, Ad-Aware SE, and Spybot Search and Destroy. You could also try to eliminate unwanted programs using the remove programs facility in Windows. Ths is also in the control panel. Calling in a professional technician as a last resort will always solve the problems, but these types of issues can normally be fixed yourself with a little effort.
