So what are the most important factors to put in place so that you can build your six figure information product empire?

There are four main factors to bear in mind:-

Factor 1 You need to have something that can produce high returns for every dollar you invest

If you wish to become a millionaire in a couple of years or so you will need a very high profit margin on your product(s). A profit margin of 5, 10 or even 30% will not get you rich within a short period of time. Sure over the long term, say 20 years or so, you could become very rich but certainly not in the short term. Also you are probably going to have to work all the hours that God created to achieve this.

So what are the type of products that have a very high rate of return? Drum roll please! Information products1

How is it possible to get such a high return on information products?

Because they are specialist products you can command a much higher price and profit margins can be anything from 100% upwards.

Suppose you went into business selling normal domestic items. The problem is that you are limited to what profit margin you can charge by market conditions. Potential customers can compare prices easily with other outlets so if your profit margin is too high then most people will buy elsewhere.

This is not the case with information products. How can you compare prices when each product is unique? So in effect you can charge what you like providing there are sufficient potential customers who are prepared to pay the asking price.

Isn't this unethical? A resounding NO! If you are providing value then everyone wins.

Maybe the cost of producing your product is relatively small. However if the information contained allows the recipient to make a lot more money or solves a pressing problem then it is of more value to them than the money spent. A win/win situation.

Factor 2 You need to be able to run a business with high profit margins from home.

Whilst it may help your ego to have a large office with lots of staff this is not going to help you to become a millionaire in the short term. Besides giving you a lot more problems!

If you tie up a large amount of your capital in office equipment etc then you probably won't have enough money to spend on your advertising.

Certainly with some businesses it is necessary to have dedicated premises but definitely not with information products which can be sold over the internet. So keep your overheads small at least initially.

Factor 3 You need to control your outgoings.

This means that you have to ensure that any "investment" that you make will produce a profit or at least break even.

With most products you have to spend a large amount up front. Producing and storing stock, "shot gun" advertising etc.

This is not the case with selling information products especially over the internet. Whilst I cannot go into details here regarding all the different methods of advertising both on and off line it is possible to advertise relatively cheaply. Certainly it is much easier to advertise initially on a very small scale and therefore test your product without spending a great deal. If it flops then you can go back to the drawing board. On the other hand if your first results are promising then you can scale up your advertising. With most other products this is not always possible.

So by testing small and building up you can control your outgoings with a large degree of success.

Factor 4 You must have a large enough market who want your product.

Obviously you must have a large enough market for your product but more importantly you must have a crowd of people who are hungry for your information and can afford to pay for it.

We are talking here about a targeted niche market. There is plenty of information on the internet which will allow you to find out the potential size of your niche and where the prospects are so please go and do plenty of homework in this area.

By concentrating on the above four main factors your chances of success will be much greater.
