Blast From The Past Can Shape Your Future!

Your marketing is your business think about it. Big companies spend billions on advertising sometimes up to half their budget, Why?

Because advertising is the single most powerful media there is period! Everything is based on advertising - in fact our whole financial system would cease to exist if it were not for advertising.
So, you need to understand the basics before you start writing your ads.

Firstly, you must appreciate the different forms of advertising: unfortunately 99% of all businesses make the mistake of choosing the wrong form. This is not their fault they simply follow what they perceive to be the accepted practice.

Ask yourself this simple question before you even put pen to paper: what is the purpose of advertising? Is it just to make people aware of your product or service? or encourage them to buy from you?

One of the greatest copywriters of all time said to be the 'founding father of modern advertising' Claude C. Hopkins.Said "the only purpose of advertising is to make sales. It is not for general effect,It is not to keep your name before people".It must justify itself.

Taken from his seminal works 'Scientific Advertising' Written in 1923 this is the foundation for all modern day Advertising.

Legendary copywriter David Ogilvy said this of 'Scientific Advertising' "Nobody should be allowed to have anything to do with advertising until they have read this Book seven times. It changed the course of my life" Its a good idea to study the masters of copywriting the pioneers who shaped and sculpted the landscape in the early 20th century.

Men such as Albert Lasker, reputed to have made more money than anyone in the history of advertising, when he was 18 he got a job at the Lord & Thomas ad agency two years later, at just 20 years of age he bought the company an ran it for 44 years!

He famously head hunted Claude Hopkins for several years refusing to give up until he got his man which he finally did.

Stanley Resor, Raymond Rubicam, Leo Burnett, Bill Bernbach all played their part in making advertising what it is today. But none had such an effect as Hopkins, his innovations and intense dislike of waste led him to implement ideas and strategies which to this very day copywriters and marketers alike still have not yet fully grasped!

So my suggestion to you is this if you're struggling with your advertising and want to really maximize your profits, you really must look to the past. Study old advertising methods see the patterns and structure every successful ad has then take a look at your own efforts are you close to the mark?

Do your ads compare in tone and structure? Here's a valued tip and one I think you should look into if your ads are getting no response pull it, if it generates nothing whats the point!

Save yourself time money and anguish and study what works take the guess work out of your efforts and learn from the masters.
