Moving across town or across the country has become a way of life for many families in the United States. As an example, the U.S. Census Bureau stated that approximately 14.2 percent of the total U.S. population, an estimated 40.1 million people, moved within a one-year period of time. Blacks moving to new neighborhoods are a prominent sight in various parts of U.S. in search of new jobs and better facilities for their family members.



Commuting from one side of city to the other can take as much as an hour. Blacks moving to new neighborhoods think and rethink before taking such a step by calculating all the prospects. Moving to a new neighborhood represents a big change for everyone in the family. There is a change of environment, people and everything they know of their old place. It's an exciting time but may also create some stress and confusion for family members, especially children because they are used to their old neighborhood. It takes time for the children to learn about their new neighborhood and get adapted to the environment and the new people.



The people in the new neighborhood are generally very friendly and they welcome their new neighbors with open arms. These neighbors often help the blacks moving to new neighborhoods by helping them in setting up their homes and helping them in various other ways so that they feel relaxed and comfortable of their new neighborhood.



Communicating with the children about the new home and neighborhood and reassuring them about the changes are vital. After moving to a new neighborhood, the blacks tend to give priority to their children so that they feel accustomed to the new place. The blacks also to pay careful attention to their feelings and allow them to express themselves about all the changes they are experiencing after moving to a new neighborhood. After all, children should feel good about their new neighborhood.



One way to make friends with your neighbors is to go ahead and meet up with them personally. After moving to a new neighborhood, one should meet up with their neighbors frequently so that you get mixed up with them easily. The blacks moving to new neighborhoods can even introduce their children with their neighbors. This may provide a good opportunity for your children to meet other children in the neighborhood. This way they would find new friends in the neighborhood and they will not feel lonely and could enjoy in the neighborhood.

They can explore parks for their children, stores near their homes. And in the process the blacks may find new friends that would help them in the longer run.
