Black Mold Removal Can Be Simple But Dangerous

By:

All right, before we start talking about black mold removal let's first learn about the basics of black mold. Stachybotrys chartarum is the scientific name of what we commonly call the 'toxic black mold.' This is a species of fungi that dwell in places in homes with hardly any air circulation, especially if the home has water damage in it due to flooding or simply leaking pipes. These little buggers can produce trichothcene mycotoxins and satratoxins. If that sounds too scientific for you, look at the '-toxins' at the end of each word. That should give you the basic idea that they are poisonous, bad for the body, really toxic.

It is important to know the ground rules when dealing with black mold removal. The cleanup can be easy, but the fungi have defences that can attack us silently. When cleaning time happens the fungi will release its spores with a vengeance. It will shoot it out without you being aware of it. That's what makes it so resilient, when you clean up, it will just make sure that it will grow somewhere else. The spores are toxic to mammals which include us and our pets, unfortunately. If there is inexplicable incidence of upper respiratory tract infections with no apparent virus epidemics, if there is nausea, chronic fatigue, bleeding from the nose, or even fever and skin conditions that are irritating, then think about the spores and the mycotoxins that they cause. People are allergic to these mycotoxins and no one is spared of their toxicity.

There are mold inspectors who can assess your homes for you. They are the ones who can actually determine the extent of the contamination with their laboratory tests. The costs can go up to $1000 but knowing what causes all the illnesses is better than not. When the assessment is done and if the contamination is extensive, then prepare the money, you would need to have a mold remediation for black mold removal done on your properties. However, if the contamination is controllable, you can just try and go ahead remove the fungi yourself, as long as you are careful and follow the proper procedures.

Hopefully, you can control the contamination yourself with home remedies or simple black mold removal procedures with household cleaners. When doing this, make sure that you are well protected from the spores by protecting your eyes with goggles, prevent inhalation by using a face mask, and protect your skin with gloves. Use your oldest and disposable clothes if there are a lot of the black muck, you can throw them or burn them to prevent contaminating anyone.

At the start of the black mold removal, make sure that the area is cleaned of contaminated debris. Pack it up in plastic and remove to the garbage can sealed. If there are any items not affected, don't just put them back in your house, and expose them to the sun. Heat kills the fungi. If they are washable, then pour boiling hot water with bleach on over it. When dry, observe for any growth. If there are things growing, just get rid of it, no need to risk health and life over it.

Going back to the area of contamination, brush off area to loosen the mold growth. Then, spray a solution that is guaranteed to kill the black mold. The solution can be those which are sold and guaranteed to kill off fungi or are known black mold removal solutions. However, there are some household ingredients you can combine that will work just as well. Combine a gallon of water with a cup each of rubbing alcohol, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide, and two tablespoons of baking soda. This is a pretty tough combination that is sure to kill those fungi, whatever it may be. Make sure that there are no more leakages from pipes if that was the main cause, otherwise you'll just be going back and forth with the black mold removal process like a ninny. As soon as you are done, whatever you cannot repair yourself, hire a professional. You should have saved enough money doing the black mold removal yourself, and remember, it's for your health.
