When a persons birthday comes around there are countless friends and family members who drive themselves into a frenzy about finding the perfect birthday present. Whilst some people are difficult to buy for you are guaranteed to find something you know that person will love, besides if you're considering buying them a present then you must know them fairly well!

Rather than hitting the local shops which you have trawled through endlessly and possibly purchased every past present from, why not head online. You can do this from your computer at home if you have internet access, at the local library, local university/college if you're a student, at a friends place or at an internet cafe. The web has a vast amount of information and ideas and could trigger that idea for the perfect present.

Search online for gift sites and ideas and have a browse through some products. If you cant find anything that stands out then search for more out-of-the-box ideas! Look at websites you wouldnt normally think to go to for present ideas. Think about your favourite presents you have personally received and try and relate these to the present receiver.

If all comes to a halt and you're really beginning to struggle as the big birthday gets closer then look around you, literally, for inspiration! Maybe that paperweight on your desk could be turned into a personalized paperweight. This is a unique and quirky gift with many glass engravers able to engrave images, logos, text and much more. Get that funny photo of the two of you engraved for a modern photo frame but in the form of a paperweight.

If a paperweight isnt quite right then still consider glass engraving. Theyll be some engravers within your region who will engrave glass or crystal if you're splashing out, from items like key rings, all the way up to big awards or slabs of glass. Be unique and think out the box to get that really special wow-factor present. Itll all be worth it when you see the reaction from the present receiver.

If you're still stuck for ideas then get creative; anything personal and hand-made makes a fabulous present. Think a home-made card, cake, photo collage or painting. Even if its no Picasso or Delia the effort you have put in will be much appreciated. Get a friend to help if you're really not the creative type, put some music on and make a night of it.
