Biometric Gun Safes - Better To Be Safe Than Sorry

By:

It's three o'clock in the morning and you awaken to the sound of tinkling glass falling on your kitchen floor. You rub your eyes and look around. Your spouse is sound asleep. You hear the shuffling of feet and muffled voices as they approach the foot of the stairs that lead to your kids' bedrooms.

In a flash you're out of bed. You reach up to the top shelf to grab your gun. It's gone.

All sorts of horrors flash through your mind. Did the kids find it? Was it stolen? Could your own gun be used against you and the ones you love?

You feel the fear crawling up your spine because it sounds like someone has broken into your house and they're headed upstairs. You reach for your cell phone to dial 911 and hope you're not too late.

A quick thought flashes through your mind - if only you would've bought a biometric gun safe you'd now be able to protect your family.

Unfortunately, scenarios such as this unfold day after day. Although there's nothing more important than protecting your family, if you choose to buy a gun the responsibility of keeping it inaccessible to others yet readily available to you comes with the territory.

As a gun owner you only have one option. You have to buy a gun safe and keep your gun in it all the time.

It's not the time to skimp when you buy a safe. With what's at stake you should buy the best that you can afford. You want one that a burglar will have a hard time breaking into and yet will also be safe from mischievous little hands. One of your best choices should be a biometric gun safe.

Biometric safes are sometimes called fingerprint safes or fingerprint locks because most of them identify who's trying to open the safe by their fingerprint. Others use some other means of identifying people, such as a retinal scan.

After you've input your fingerprint no one else will have access to the contents of your gun safe. It is virtually impossible to fool these safes because

(1) everyone has unique fingerprints, and
(2) the locks are designed to read your fingerprint only when there is blood pulsing behind it.

It might sound rather gruesome, but this means that if someone cuts your finger off and attempts to open the safe it simply won't work.

On the positive side, if you need to get into the safe quickly there is no faster way than using your fingerprint to access it. You won't have to fiddle with a key or input a code. Just press your fingertip against a scanner and your biometric safe will open.

Many safes will allow you to store as many as fifteen fingerprints in their database. This way your spouse will also have access to the safe and its contents.

Although many biometric safes are small and light, to keep the safe itself from being stolen it would probably be a good idea to bolt it to the floor or wall.
