Biomass Gasifier And Syngas For A Greener Environment

By:

Everybody is aware of the rising level of pollution and this is the time to adopt environment friendly procedure to curb this pollution level. There is only one way out which includes incorporation of advanced industrial systems that make an effective use of renewable energy resources. This is why many industrialists are now making use of such products making less harm to our environment.

Almost every industry is experiencing the major alterations to bring down the pollution level. One of such alternations include use of biomass gasifiers, which are also known as BioMax units, generate electricity and thermal energy from woody waste including wood chips from hard and soft wood, sawdust pellets, coconut shells, nut shells or corncobs.

A biomass gasifier burn these fuels with about one-third of the oxygen necessary required for combustion to produce a mixture of carbon dioxide and hydrogen, known as syngas. Biomass energy accounts for about 11% of the global energy supply, and it is estimated that about 2 billion people all over the world rely on biomass energy for their energy needs.

Nowadays, wood gasification systems are emerging as a feasible technology for avoidance of greenhouse gas emissions. Few years ago wood gas was considered as cheaper by all means, but charcoal gasifiers were popular as they were easier to handle. There are numerous types of gasifiers that produce gas from wood and then burn the gas, leaving ash and charcoal.

Recent studies reveal that how biomass gasifiers are able to deliver performance by meeting energy requirements in various circumstances. Wood gas can be used to run cars with normal internal combustion engines in case a wood gasifier in attached. This concept was very popular during World War II in European countries because soldiers in the war region did not always have access to oil.

Syngas is a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide and it can easily converted into fuels such as hydrogen, natural gas or ethanol. Syngas is inserted into a cooling system which then generates steam. This gas can be used as a fuel to generate electricity and steam or as a chemical building block for the petrochemical and refining industries. The gasification system converts feedstock such as coal, crude oil, petroleum-based materials or gases into fuels and products for buying. When mixed with air, syngas can be used in gasoline or diesel engines with few alternations to the engine.
