Bingo Uk. Are You In On The Action? A Brief Overview Of How Uk Bingo Has Changed.

By: Aleister Ceridwen

Over the years, bingo has been subject to many hardships, from the French Revolution to the Second World War but against all odds this simple game has always bounced back and become stronger. Since its arrival to the United Kingdom in the early 20th century, bingo UK has grown to be one of the most lucrative businesses and has set the standard for all other forms of gambling both online and offline.

When bingo first surfaced in the UK it was still at a young stage, bingo halls were furnished from abandoned theatres and cinemas. Over the years UK bingo grew in popularity and new halls were built with the sole purpose of bringing bingo to the masses. By the mid 1980"s bingo had spanned across the UK, filling halls from the highlands of Scotland to the most southern towns of Britain. Bingo took another massive leap in the late 1990"s when some of the first online bingo sites were created, with this new technology at its fingertips, UK bingo developed a more powerful way to reach its clientele.

Bingo UK was granted its "big break" in 2005 when the gaming regulations act changed its policies regarding the advertising of gambling. With the new regulations in place bingo was free to advertise across the internet, this created a massive influx of new players and allowed the online bingo business to grow. In 2007, online gambling was granted the rights to advertise across all media. With laws now allowing online bingo to create new, extravagant and attractive advertisements the number of UK bingo players dramatically increased.

UK Bingo has been affected by many difficulties over the years; one of the most recent examples is the smoking ban that was enforced on the 1st of July 2007. This ban stated that smoking in public places was to be made illegal; this law greatly affected the number of people who came to UK bingo halls and consequentially many bingo halls were shut down. The smoking ban had an opposite affect on the online community; the number of online bingo players grew dramatically and shaped the future of bingo.

Bingo suffered another devastating blow in September 2008 when Britain was plunged into recession. With money getting tight all over the country the bingo business saw a record downfall of players. Online Bingo UK operators have been fighting the recession with the use of TV campaigns, online advertisements and adding more "value for money" into their games. The recession has slowly loosened its grip on the UK bingo market; the bingo business is quickly recovering and is once again becoming one of the Nations favourite "money makers".
