Billiards Interesting Facts And History

By:

There are many different games that are played on a billiards table. Playing at a bar or bowling alley really isn't going to cut it.

Many games require either more or less balls in order to play; some games are played without pockets, and in the rules of straight pool any miss-pocketed ball should be replaced to the D position. But when we play at bars or arcades or pool houses each game can cost us a dollar or each ball that we wish to be re-released would also cost us a dollar.

The solution, get yourself a pool or billiards table; you may also want to invest in some pocket plugs for games like the original billiards or carom. Having your own pool table will get you to better develop your skills and technique, thus making it easier for you to win competitions.

The most difficult billiards game: three cushion billiards; this is a carom billiards game, and takes more skill and practice than any other game in billiards history. You probably saw Donald duck play the game back in geometry class.

Well I did. This game requires an unimaginable amount of skill and practice.

The cue ball must make contact with both of the other balls, the opposing player's cue ball and also the object ball, while making contact with three cushions within the shot. However it doesn't matter when the cushions are hit, they can be hit before or after contact of the object ball.

Because of the high level of skill mastery, many people do not play this game, although it is becoming increasingly popular throughout the US. There are even contest played where winners will take home nearly 25k in US currency.

That's not a bad bargain if you ask me. A really nice pool table only cost around 3k and that is for a very, very nice pool table.

So you could practice on that for a few months, fly down to New York, enter the competition and times your money seven fold. That sounds like a really good investment to me.

It is obvious that pool is usually associated with shady characters smoking cigarettes in dumpy bars. But the fact of the matter is they are really quite classy.

If you have a pool table you will know what I mean. Having a pool table in your house tells guests that you are sophisticated.

Even Thomas Edison had a pool table, though he did have to hide it because at the time the church and state had outlawed the game as being immoral. So point is, don't be scared of what the prude neighbors will think, just buy a pool table.
