Big Skin Problems Most Won't Own Up To

Skin problems are always a risk no matter what time of the year it is. Yet summer isn't always non stop fun in the sun most especially when it comes to problems with your skin.

Luckily most can be avoided and if that fails easily treated. But how will you treat skin problems if you don't know what they are or if you already have them? So to make things easy for you, here is a short list of common skin problems.

1. If it's hot and humid you may be a candidate for heat rash aka prickly heat. This common skin problem is caused by blockage of the sweat glands. In other words, too much perspiration can lead to this problem. You'll recognize it by the tiny, red bumps on your skin which are something akin to Goosebumps. Treat it with cold showers followed by calamine lotion. Prevent it by staying cool and wearing loose clothing.

2. Another common skin problem is poison ivy or poison oak. Although they're not really a skin problem per se this is caused by plants that leave an oil on your skin resulting in a very itchy skin irritation. What's worse, the oils can stick to pet hair, gardening tools even by transmitted by smoke. While the itchiness can be treated with anti-itch cream, some people find it to be almost unbearable.

3. Chiggers are red, tiny insects that grab onto to your skin and drink the fluid found in the skin cells. After a couple of days, once they've had their fill, they detach themselves. Although they don't bite, their "cling marks" are what's causing skin irritation.

4. Want to avoid acne? Simple. Don't sleep without removing your makeup as doing so can easily clog up your pores and cause a breakout. Aside from that, some people are allergic to makeup ingredients which causes acne like problems.

5. Polymorphous light eruption (PMLE) is a rash triggered by exposure to UV rays. You can get this by sun exposure or tanning beds. Those most prone to his are the ones hitting the beach after a long cold winter like during spring break? PMLE takes the form of red skin irritation on your neck, thighs and arms. Break out the cold compresses should you fall prey to this.

Now that you know more about some of the more common skin problems you know what to bring with you the next time you hit the hiking trails or go camping. This will not only make any trip worthwhile but more comfortable as well. Both for you and your family.
