Big Plush Toys & History

Big plush toys means different things to different people. Big plush toys are all about the largest, most plush stuffed animals one can find. When big toys come in the shape of a 5 foot plush giraffe, or a 2 foot tall rideable plush horse, there is no limit to what the imagination can dream up; from a bedroom or playroom designed around big toys to the best companions you have ever known, big plush toys have endless possibilities.

When the first teddy bear was going through its various design changes, when it was released in 1905 as a different type of teddy from its original creation, there were seven sizes available to choose from. And, by 1910, that number had increased to14. This 'perfected' teddy bear was an instant success in 1905, including the various sizes it was available in. In fact, some of the most memorable teddy bears of the time were produced during that period. In 1907, a hot water bottle teddy bear was introduced which was inspired by a particularly harsh winter the previous year. The 10 inch bear had an opening in his mohair plush body into which a firmly sealed tin of boiling water could be inserted. And, it was padded so as to not scold its owner. What could be better for a small child to snuggle up to on a cold night? Only ninety of these teddy bears were ever produced between 1907 and 1914 before this particular model was taken off the market. As a result, these unique teddy bears that were well ahead of their time, are highly sought after today by collectors around the world.

While the first hot water bottle teddy bear was just 10 inches in size, that does not preclude the fact that over time, as plush toys became more and more popular, it was only a matter of time before a 10 inch stuffed animal would no longer do big toys would eventually be all the rage when it came to plush animals. Just like that child who was able to snuggle up to a hot water bottle teddy bear on a cold night, big toys offer its owner the possibility of having plush animals that might feel like they are snuggling up with the real thing simply because of its size. Does it really get any better than that for a child who adores their big plush toys?

From the days when teddy bears came in 14 different sizes, we can fast forward to now where some of their sizes are almost unimaginable from big to large to giant to jumbo there is really something for everyone and every taste.
