Bharath Institute Of Oncology In Mysore | Mysore

What you see Located in the outskirts of Mysore on the Outer Ring Road in Hebbal, Bharath Hospital & Institute of Oncology looks like a yoga and meditation center from a distance with its sprawling lawns and serene location. But the large signage of the hospital and the sight of ambulances indicate its identity. The premises of the hospital are neatly maintained and we notice sign boards directing the patients and visitors to different medical departments. The hospital location is away from the hustle and bustle of the city and sans the frantic atmosphere seen in most other hospitals.

What you get - Bharath Hospital & Institute of Oncology was started in 1989 to provide super specialty cancer care under one roof. The hospital has even been a winner of Rajyothsava Award in 2003-04 for its high quality service.

Bharath Hospital is a 100-bed hospital with facilities for Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound Scanning, Colposcopy (diagnostic procedure to examine cervix, tissues of vagina and vulva), Cancer detection clinics, Linear Accelerator, CT Scanner, Brachytherapy (internal radiotherapy), Surgical Oncology, Gynecological Oncology, Radiotherapy, Medical Oncology and Cancer rehabilitation clinic. It also provides chemotherapy treatment. The well-equipped laboratory at Bharath Hospital has Radiology, Pathology and Endoscopy departments.

Bharath Hospital also has two well equipped operation theatres, five-bed state-of-the-art post operative intensive care unit (ICU), multi-parameter ICU Monitors and ventilators. It provides 24-hour ambulance service, five-critical care beds, in-house canteen facility and laundry services. The hospital wards are well-ventilated, brightly lit and offer comfortable bedding for the patients. It also has an in-house pharmacy which stocks an entire range of cancer care medications. As we walk around the hospital corridors checking out the services we observe the silence and serenity in the premises.

The hospital also provides free chemotherapy and free food three times a day to general wards and intensive treatment unit patients. It also conducts 11 free cancer detection clinics on fixed days of every month at designated peripheral centers within a radius of 150 kilometers around Mysore and a free clinic on the 4th Saturday of every month at its premises. The patients attending these clinics are given treatment at subsidized cost. All the programs are conducted from the money collected through donations.

Our verdict - Bharath Hospital & Institute of Oncology has a modern setup and peaceful location. The hospital boasts of eminent and experienced doctors who have worked in foreign countries. The knowledgeable help staff renders quality service. You can also pitch in your assistance in extending cancer care to the under-privileged class through donations. The hospitals canteen facility too is convenient as it serves the prescribed diet for the patients. There is ample parking facility inside the premises.
