The beauty of nature has made the landscape painting become very famous. And most of the canvas painters are pursuing to master the art of painting landscape perfectly. The creativity and imaginative is limitless in the art painting of landscape.

The ability to paint in outdoors is the main element in landscape painting. This will make yourself even more creative and unleash your hidden talent instantly. Choose the medium of paint you are going to use. Oil paint is highly preferred for landscape, but you may use water color or acrylic paint too. Select the surface you are going to paint on. It can be stretch canvas, canvas paper or acrylic paper or paper used for water color depending on the medium of paint. Different size of brushes are needed as well.

Primary and Secondary Colors: Let me tell you about colors. Red color, blue color and yellow are the primary colors. They can be considered as the major colors since they are original and unable to be mixed with other colors. However, the secondary colors such as green, brown, purple, maroon, crimson, orange etc can be made by mixing the primary colors in specific combinations. This is a color wheel. Artist can use the colors creatively to bring out their desired effects. And it's very useful while painting fog or mist. For instant, to make your painting more vibrant, you can add additional color for more mellowed effect and then mix with another color to lighten it.

Painting medium: A beginner or a novice learning how to paint a landscape is advised to use either water color or acrylic paint since both are water soluble, inexpensive and easy to use. More advanced painters or professionals may chose to use oil paint.

Canvas board or Canvas paper: Again for starters it would be advisable to use canvas paper or board rather than a stretch canvas. Be careful. excessive amount of water paint will resulting your canvas to crumple and it will ruining the painting.

Brushes: Large, medium and small brushes are required. Large brushes are used for painting broad strokes covering a larger area. The small ones are used for detailed painting or fine and thin strokes and the medium is used for filling in and covering relatively smaller areas of the painting.

Be open-minded and imagine the natural scene creatively in order to create the most beautiful picture in your heart. Practice and patience make perfect. It does not matter how long you take to finish your landscape painting as long as the finished product is beautiful to the beholder.
