The months between June and September are considered to be the ideal months for Ladakh tourism. Suring this time all the passes are open to tourists. One can come here in jeeps, or motor bikes.
The Indus and its tributaries are ready to be rafted on. The rapids are best ridden on during the summer months. Many of the gompas annual festivals are carried on during this time.
The average temperatures during summers go upto 30 degrees which is pretty warm for Ladakh weather. Trekkers and more come here around this time of the year to trek through the highest motorable passes of the world. There are many unnamed peaks which trekkers climb between 5500m to 6500 m ranges. Ladakh lies between worlds two highest peaks Karakoram and Himalayas. The temperatures drop sharply even in the summers. Hence once should be prepared in advance for the temperature fluctuations.
Many people come to Leh by air, or if you come by road you need to check up the road conditions before hand.
If you are going into the Nubra region in winters, there are chances that the road from Khardungla is closed due to heavy rainfall. It is always advisable to check before planning your trip here.
If you are going to Pangong, it depends on how much snow has falled. In winters you can try coming here. Suppose you want to see these places, there are good chances you will be able to at this time of the year.
The roads to Zanskar remain open during winters. Forgeingers come here for the chadar trek. You should be well prepared in order to face the weather here. Bring along with you thermals, gloves, woollens, wind cheaters, mufflers, Sun hat, screen and glasses, walking shoes and boots.
