Some experts have expressed concern that as Permethrin is derived from Pyrethrum, which is thought to be harmful to health.

Lindane is used less frequently these days as it has an unwelcome association with seizures and leukemia in children. Farmers who have used Lindane to treat grain and cattle seem to have a higher chance of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. This has led to the treatment being completely banned altogether in many countries.

Natural Treatment

There are various natural treatments which can be used and people are increasingly seeing these as the best treatment for scabies mites.

One excellent treatment is tea tree oil. You should add 25 drops to a warm bath and soak in it for around 15-20 minutes. This can help to kill off the scabies mites. Tea tree oil can also be diluted and applied to the worst affected areas. As with many conditions, prevention is better than the cure and general good hygiene is vital. It helps if you keep the nails clean and short.
