Best Tips For Your Mold Clean Up.

If you have mold then you dont want to waste any time. You want to deal with this straight away before it can begin impacting your health or your finances. What follows are some tips that will hopefully help your mold clean up go smoothly.

  • Dont commence a mold clean up if you are pregnant. There is some evidence that suggests that there is a connection between mold and miscarriage. It just is not worth the risk. It is also wise for pregnant women to keep out of places like attics if there is any risk of mold growing there.

  • Bleach might not be the best thing to use during your mold clean up. It is now claimed that bleach does not effectively kill mold on porous material like wood. It does slow mold down, but the fact that bleach is 99% water could actually make things worse in the long run; not everyone agrees with this claim. It is probably best that you use a strong disinfectant rather than bleach to ensure that you completely kill the mold. You will leave this disinfectant to soak on the area for a while to completely kill anything there.

  • Dont scrub the mold. It is a bad idea to scrub mold because you could be sending dangerous spores into the air which you can then breathe in or get on your skin or in your eyes.

  • Treat all mold as if it were toxic. Not all mold is toxic, but it is hard to tell by just looking at it. For this reason it is best to approach it with caution.

  • Make sure that you use protective clothing during your mold clean up. This means wearing a respiratory mask to prevent inhaling spores as well as protective eye glasses and long clothes.

  • Make sure that you get every bit of mold during your clean up. You dont want to have to go back and repeat the procedure at a later date.

  • Remove the conditions that led to mold developing in the first place. It usually occurs due to leaks or poor ventilation. When you determine the cause you need to rectify it.

The above are just some tips that will hopefully make your mold clean up easier to conduct. Remember that the best way of dealing with mold is to prevent it occurring in the first place.
