Best Tips For Applying Your Contacts

By:

Whether you're a new contact lens user or an experienced user, you have lots of questions about your contacts. Don't feel bad; everyone has these questions at some point. These are tips that will help you easily apply your contact lenses.

There are basic guidelines to follow when applying your contacts. First, wash your hands before touching your contacts. Make sure the soap isn't oily and won't rub off on the lens. Avoid moisturizing lotions. Before taking the lens out of the lens case, gently shake the case to loosen your contacts. This will make it easier to remove them from the case and the storage solution and will avoid having to pull at the lens with your fingers, which could damage the lens.

Once you've carefully removed your contact lenses from the case and washed them thoroughly with contact solution to get rid of any debris, place one on either your index or middle finger. Be sure whichever finger you use is dry. To avoid mixing up lenses, always choose an eye to apply contacts to first. Most people choose the right eye. Use the fingers and thumb of your free hand to pull both your upper and lower eyelids to make sure you don't blink when applying the contacts.
When applying the contact in your eyes, there are a few different methods to try. You can put the lens on your eye while looking up or forward; it depends on what you're comfortable with. If that doesn't work for you, try placing it on the white of your eye closest to your ear. Once placed, close your eyes and roll them in a complete circle. This will help your contacts settle. Blink and look in the mirror; if the lens is centered in your eye and your vision is clear, you're wearing the contact correctly.

If you wear make up, there are a few things to know before you apply your make up and contacts. Put on your contacts with the above steps before applying your make up. When you do apply make up, make sure it's non-allergenic. Be careful with powders and other make up that can get into your eyes. Most importantly, replace your eye make up every three or four months. That way, you won't have to worry about bacteria growing on your eye make up and ending up in your contacts.

Applying contact lenses will soon become second nature. Follow these tips, and it'll become easier in no time!
