The Best Money Market Accounts at the end of May 2011 are still relatively where they have been since the financial crisis of 2008 has placed them. The results that have come out of the research have pointed to something interesting that if a financial institution has the best practices even the worst case scenario will not have much of a bearing on the returns on the financial institution.

The community bank of New York called Am Trust Direct has an APY on their MMA of 1.25% on deposits over $10,000 but under $150,000. All other deposit ranges are earring an APY of 0.50%. This is called their e-money market account. This account can be set up online and the deposits made electronically or you can visit one of the brick and mortar branch offices if you prefer.

The trusted people that have done millions of tax return now have a bank in which you can deposit money and make a decent return. This is the H&R Block Bank. They have a tiered set of rates with the deposits over $50,000 earning an APY of 1.15%. For deposits over $25,000 the APY is 1.00%. For deposits over $10,000 the APY is 0.90%.

There are higher rates, but they are for local areas only and have very high deposit limits that must be met. Gogebic Range Bank in Michigan is such a ban. They are offering an APY of 1.35% for deposits of $100,000 or more for local residents. The Georgia Primary Bank is offering an APY of 1.15% for deposits of $100,000 also only available for local residences.

These are the Best Money Market Accounts at this time. There will not be an upward swing in rates until the US Government policy of artificially keeping interest rates low is changed.
