Are the best companies new companies? There are a lot of people who think that if they are going to join an mlm company they want to join a new one. Why is that? There is this notion with inexperienced network marketers that if they are one of the first ones into a company, they will make money from the people that come in after them.

That is, for the most part, not true. Different companies have different comp plans so it is almost impossible to explain this completely. If you think you are going to sign up with a new mlm company and sit back and watch the checks roll in, you need to take a reality check. That is not going to happen.

If you research this subject on the internet you will actually find websites that list the top 10 mlm companies, the top 25, the top 100, the top 4009, just messing with you on that one. (smile) If you find a website that has any lists like that without explaining how they came to their conclusion, you had better keep looking.

However, if a site has a list and they explain how they came to that decision, that is better but it still does not help you. I think it would just add to your confusion and frustration because then you get to the point of being afraid of making the wrong decision.

Believe it or not there is actually some logic to this idea. How about the oldest mlm company around, Amway? I was in Amway, twice. I know why I joined the first time but the second time I really don't know what I was thinking. Amway is a great company.

Amway has been very good to a lot of people. It has made some people very rich. One of the biggest problems they ever had was their name recognition. Huh? Most businesses would kill to have the extent of recognition they had but it was a problem for Amway.

I guess the last time I was in was in the mid nineties. The people in my group, including my upline Direct (Direct is the first prized position to get to), could not get people to go to an opportunity meeting if we used the name, Amway.

People would run in the other direction. Everybody knew what it was and they wanted nothing to do with it. I don't know if it is still that way. They advertise on TV now so I don't really know what people think of it.

But, like I said, there is some logic to looking at an older company because of the perceived established security.

I hope you are starting to see a pattern here because you are getting closer to finding out what the best plan is for finding the best mlm company. I think there are two main things you should check into when you are trying to decide on a company to join.

1.How long they have been in business. The average that most people seem to think and agree on is 2 years. Now, that is not a fail safe number because companies have shut down that were older than that.
2.The Leadership. I probably could have made this number one but either way the leadership is of the utmost importance. A leader of a company could have 20-30 years of business experience but if it is not mlm experience, it is not the same thing.

Some people think they need to be excited about the product so that they, in turn, can convey enthusiasm. I, for one, steer clear of nutrition mlm companies. There are estimated to be between 3 and 4 thousand of them so that means a lot of competition. But that is not what bothers me. There is too much controversy. There are too many potential problems.

Every nutrition mlm says they have all the answers for your health problems. "We have the best juice to help you lose weight. We have the best pills to make an 85 year old feel like a teenager. We have a lotion made from lizard gizzards that will make you look like your favorite movie star".

There are problems that come up like reps making exaggerated claims which get the FDA involved. Network marketing has enough rules they have to live by without the reps making it any worse.

That is really the question you should be asking yourself but it is not the most important thing. If you find an mlm company that has been around for a decent amount of time, has good leadership and has a product or products that you think make sense, you've got your company. Feel better yet? Don't get happy yet because you are not finished. You're closer, but not finished.

You can have the greatest product in the world, the best pay plan, a great company with leadership that has flawless integrity. If you don't know how to get it in front of people, you are doomed.

You need to have a system, a marketing system. You need to get your opportunity in front of people, hungry people, people just like you who are looking for a better way, a way out of the daily grind. You have to have a system which draws people to you.

You don't need to find people like you. You have to put yourself in a position that makes you available to them. Let them find you. For that you need a proven attraction marketing system.

You see, what most mlm pros don't talk about is; it almost doesn't even matter about the company or the product. Those are just the basics. You have to learn how to be attractive to people who are looking for you.
