Best Home Remedies For The Swine Flu

By:

What happens if we get the swine flu, get a prescription from our doctor for one of the anti-viral drugs but can"t get the prescription filled because of lack of supply? This is not out of the question as my doctor told me this happened to several of her patients last year. Well, if this happens then we are going to be looking for the best home remedies for the swine flu. I do not profess to be an expert in this field and I strongly advise you to consult your doctor or other expert advice before utilizing the following remedies. What follows are the purported best home remedies for the swine flu that I could find in my research:

Remedy # 1: Consuming dietary supplements and vitamins that are known to boost your immune system. These supplements and vitamins are reported to strengthen the immune system in order to fight the viruses and organisms that cause swine flu. Echinacea has been reported in this category as an effective treatment.

Remedy # 2: Consuming anti-viral herbs such as fresh basil in food dishes plus (steam produced from the leaves can be inhaled), garlic (dice and use in various food dishes), and ginger tea (made from boiling the ginger root with water to make the tea).

Remedy # 3: Consuming fresh fruits which are rich in vitamin C. Fresh gooseberry has been reported to be in this category but probably hard to find in the grocery store. Therefore, if not available try gooseberry jam or juice. Gooseberry is reported to boost the immune system. Elderberry is another fruit reported in this category. While there is some dispute as to whether consuming Vitamin C actually works, increasing our intake of fresh fruits is a great idea for general healthy eating anyway.

Remedy # 4: Consuming herbal teas especially ones containing lemon which has been reported to relieve symptoms such as sore throat, headaches, and cough due to the flu. Some reports suggest adding ginger to the lemon tea which tastes great.

Remedy # 5: Consuming anti-viral immune boosting traditional Chinese herbs such as shizandra berries which are used to make an herbal tea or codonopsis (a.k.a. poor man"s ginseng) which is used for preparing an herbal drink or used in various sauces such as barbeque sauce or in marinades. This herb has also been reported to be a good herb for children.

If we could not get the anti-viral drugs we need after getting the swine flu then we are going to be looking for other proven ways to fight the virus and relieve the symptoms of the swine flu. The best home remedies for the swine flu will be one of our options. Read on for additional sites to give you more information on fighting this year's swine flu.
