Best Crate Training Technique For Your Puppy

By:

Crate training a puppy is very good for preventing destructive behavior, reduces separation anxiety, as well as an effective housebreaking tool that can be used to potty train a puppy. Crate training is also makes a good indoor dog house for your puppy too. When traveling many airlines and hotel chains will not allow puppies, or only make required that the puppy be kept in a crateicon.

Crate training should be used as a place for your dog to relax and hang out in. The crate should not be used for punishment Puppies under nine weeks should not be crate trained due to there very little bladder and will need to relieve themselves frequently. They puppy should not associate the crate with punishment and discipline

Be sure to prepare your crate for your puppy so that it makes him feel like it's a secure place to be. Keep the encounters with the crate as friendly as possible. You can place his favorite toy inside the crate, or leave doggy treats inside the crate randomly through out the day, so that he'll find them in his crate and start liking his new home. The Vari Kennel Crates have plastic walls and ceilings, and a metal door. They are usually a lot smaller than the metal crates, but are good traveling as they usually hold dog feeding supplies in them, and have a handle. These are the crates that airlines and hotels prefer. While introducing your puppy to the Vari Kennel take off the roof and tie open the door. This makes the crate seem less intimidating. If you have a wire crate just tie the door tightly so it doesn't rattle. This would scare the puppy away and make him not like his crate.

The other kind of crates are the wire crates, which are usually used for dogs outside and are often a lot bigger crates to allow more room for big dogs and lots of space for smaller puppies, these metal crates usually last a lot longer, but can rust too.

A puppy's crate should include water, bedding, and toys and treats for the puppy. Puppy crate training ensures that we want the puppy to be as comfortable as possible while inside the crate. The crate should be the puppy's own little house. Your puppy shouldn't want to urinate inside the crate as they have problems with urinating in their 'den'. If the puppy does urinate in the crate, simply clean it up with a pet deodorizer to further discourage him from doing it again.

Puppy crate training should move in a gradual process You don't really want to force your puppy into crate. Start by placing small dog treats in the crate periodically throughout the day. Eventually your puppy will find these treats and this will reinforce positive associations with the crate training. You can also feed him inside the crate to further reinforce the associations.

Praise your puppy when he enter crates, and do not try to force the puppy into the crate. If you introduce the puppy to the crate forcefully he will associate it with negative reinforcement and will not enjoy or want to be anywhere around the crate. You can also place the puppy in the crate when he needs to go bed at night

The puppy should be placed in the crateicon only for short periods of time until he gets used to it Getting the dog used to your absence in the room that the crate training is occurring is a good step to prevent an association made with the crate and your absence.

Crate training your puppy is an effective way to teach obedience to your new dog. It will also help you housebreak your puppy and ensures that he always has a spot to sleep. It also prevents anxiety and behavior problems.
