Belly Button Jewelry - Consider This Before You Pierce

By:

There has always been that goal to be attractive in one way or another. In our continued effort to appear pleasing for ourselves as well as to others, we make use of various clothing, accessories and jewelry. One very popular way to accessorize these days is with the use of belly button jewelry.

Having a flat belly is definitely an appealing look. Of course, a flat tummy is not something we see too often nowadays, considering the fact that most of us are somewhat overweight. Since an attractive flat belly is something of a rarity for most people, it is tempting for someone who has one to show it off and flaunt it before the whole world. Wearing sparkling and alluring body jewelry is one way to show off that flat tummy for all to see.

However, utmost care needs to be taken when someone gets their belly button pierced. Since the pierced area is not as exposed as others, it usually takes more time for it to be healed than other parts of the body that are more exposed to the drying effects of air. Moreover, one's clothing can keep the pierced body part continually chafed and irritated. Dangers even more serious than irritation include serious infections and blood poisoning.

Extreme care should be taken when getting the tummy pierced for wearing jewelry. When piercing, one should only use sterilized metal tools made of either stainless steel or titanium. The jewelry should also be kept clean and sterilized to minimize the chance of infection.

Once the actual piercing is done, there should be no further damaging actions taken against the pierced area. Moving the jewelry attached to the piercing can cause considerable aggravation on the wound, which causes it to delay healing. The belly button piercing should be cleaned twice-daily using antibacterial soap and warm water. It should also be kept dry for the rest of the time.

A good way to get the wound healed up more quickly is to use a saltwater solution where one half tablespoon of sea salt is dissolved into one quarter cup of sterilized water. This solution is placed in a medicinal cup, which is then applied over the pierced area for around 15 minutes.

In conclusion, for those fortunate people who have flat, attractive tummies, wearing belly button jewelry is a sexy and provocative fashion statement. However, the process of piercing the navel also involves a good amount of endurance and responsibility since such a small wound could become easily infected and cause major complications to one's health.
