Being Confident And Expressive Never Goes Out Of Style

You know, as much as I love being feminine, applying make-up, and finding the perfect outfit when I am steppin' out, sometimes the trends change so quickly, it can be difficult to keep up. And I am still relatively young! I am supposed to be hip and fresh! But alas... what is a girl like me to do?

Well, I'll tell you! My general rules are these: stick to the classics and express yourself--because being confident and unique never goes out of style!

There are some styles that just work, no matter what. For example, if you want a glamorous look that still exudes a certain look of innocence, rose-red lips combined with soft pink nail polish will always get the job done.

If you are searching for a quick, face-framing change to your hairstyle without hacking away at length or volume, go for bangs! Bangs, sometimes called fringe, draw attention to your eyes without completely re-vamping your style. If ever they get in the way, you're only a few bobby pins away from being bangs-free.

The super-feminine ponytail is one way to embellish an old favorite for both casual and elegant occasions. After having smoothed your hair in whatever way suits you best--a bit of product, a straightening iron, or whatever suits you best--gather the tail at the center of the back of your head, rather than either high or low.

Keep back a lock of hair to wrap around the ponytail holder; secure it underneath with a bobby pin that is close to your own hair color. The finishing touch lies in creating soft curls at the very end.

I wish that glamorous magazines would remember this one thing: getting this right really depends on your own hair. For some, using a sticky roller and some hairspray will nail it, but for others, it may take some wrestling with a curling iron. But half the fun is toying around with different methods of getting to the same result--you never know what you'll discover when you're trying to get there!

This may sound a little unexpected, but sometimes, the most classic look you can get is going completely natural. Celebrate your inherent beauty! Let your hair be what it is. Some women find this daunting, but the more often you go out "au natural," the more confidence you will build.

Don't be afraid to create your own style, too--you never know what will catch on! While I was in high school, I became famous for the "haphazard pin-up," style which spread like wildfire. So, always express yourself in a way that makes you feel satisfied and confident. You can never regret being yourself.
