Becoming Trendy And Making A Comeback; Roller Shades

By:

Times have changed and so has roller shades. Years ago they were used in almost all households and the main function was to block out the light. This they were very successful at doing. The window shades were very plain white vinyl with a very basic bottom trim that consisted of a long stick rolled into the last two inches of the sheet to hold it down from being blown around in the wind. They were practical, functional and to the point, they did their job.

Lately the window fixture that has been the most popular has been the vertical blinds. They of course have nothing on the roller shades except the trend factor. Vertical blinds are extremely nice to look at but they do not block out an serious amount of light. They really just dim the room and take most of the light not making it dark. A big downfall to the vertical blind is that they get very dusty and in order to clean them you must go blind by blind with a cloth, very inconvenient and time consuming.

Until now that is, roller shades are making a fashion come back! They come in many different types of solid linens, sheer linens, choices of suede and burn-out fabrics. Many shades are inspired by nature and come in many different textures that give very unique looks and are pleasant to touch.

The colors that are out there are seemingly unlimited, if someone can dream it up they can put it out. There seems to be a focus on very natural colors at this point in time. Very soothing light beige, sandstones and sages, nothing to bold or loud. There is also a way to layer the window shades with colors so that if it is wanted you can actually coordinate them to your furniture with out having the blind a whole solid color.

If there are light issues to be considered then the roll down shades can be layered to allow for more or less light given with what is desired. The window shades can also be made with different levels of thickness for the same considerations.

There can also be the option of solar shading for roller shades. This way the beautiful view outside does not have to be wasted in order to cut down on the heat coming in through the window or the glare on the TV.

As an improvement from the older shades the bottom trim now can come in designs to add a more trendy look to the room rather than the plain straight cut. There is also the option of having a pull cord on the side now somewhat similar to vertical blinds. This helps with limiting the physical touching of the blinds. Lessens stains and marks that may occur with the traditional pulling the bottom to open and shut.

Once again roller shades have proven to be a great idea and seemed to have longevity in society with the ability to become current and trendy. These shades will be a great addition to any home and can be upgraded over the years to stay in fashion.
