Becoming A Better Consumer

By:

The problem with giving people advices on how to save their money is that they would not listen. Blame nobody. That is because of their spending habits that have been perfected since years ago. In fact, some people might resent you for advising them how to spend their money appropriately.

Instead, it is wiser to share with them some of the financial ideas and strategies. Then, hopefully they would make sense out of what you tell them and implement those financial points into their lives. Only people can change themselves once and for all. The saying action speaks louder than words definitely prevails.

Maybe spending money is a fun activity for some. In fact, it is easy to do! Just swipe the card and fork out the paper money (cash) and that is it. But the reverse process, earning money is far more difficult than its direct opposite counterpart (spending). But please, know that there are two definitions of spending money, really. One is to spend foolishly and the other is of course, to spend wisely. Can you choose the right spending type?

Take the case when you expend too much. To make things worse, it is a not-so-smart spending (e.g. you have spent on something you do not need, only to realize it is too late). Did you know this creates a pressure on your salary? Debts might accumulate and your savings might be at risk. It is definitely a recipe for a financial disaster.

Another tip is to avoid temptations. This will mean delaying yourself of all types and forms of instant gratification. What is instant gratification? It works this way. Lets say you have seen a product that you have just fallen in love with. You really like the specific product. Now, stop there and think. You have just seen it for a while and have liked it already. Arent you supposed to research about it more and wait a little longer before buying it? Most of the time, when you rush to buy something new, you will end up regretting the purchase. Then you will be scrambling to get a refund or exchange. Therefore, delaying your gratifications will pay off in financial terms.

Therefore, it is always smart to monitor yourself. It is once said that the journey towards oneself is the longest. Take the time to observe yourself, especially the decisions that you make every day. In the end, this might sound like an article written by a wise man. We should all get wiser by the day, should not we?
