Become A Successful Entrepreneur Or Not

By:

We are all granted with the gift of making choices that will in many cases have a lasting and profound impact on our lives.

For the majority of us we are raised in families where it is just expected that we will complete high-school, move on to some type of secondary education and then start earning a paycheck as the direct result of obtaining a job. While taking a job is the road traveled by a large percentage of our population that single fact does not necessarily make it the right choice.

The thing that most people are looking for can be summed up in the word security. I am just as guilty as anyone, but as I began to get further along this journey called life I began to question the sanity of what I was doing. Unfortunately for me I was not making the necessary changes fast enough and became a casualty of downsizing.

With the current economic conditions my story is being repeated by hundreds if not thousands of people around the country on a daily basis. It is at about this point where my eyes were opened wide and I realized this thing called a job was not offering me the security I once thought.

The other choice we have is to work on ourselves, embark on a journey of personal development, become an entrepreneur and start the process of building a fortune for ourselves. And, no I am not recommending that you quit your job today and run out to start a business.

We all have to make a living, pay bills and have a roof over our heads, but none of those things will keep you from doing something for yourself and your family in your spare time.

Lets take another look at this thing called a job. As I once heard the word job stands for Just Over Broke.

The option of taking a job is a prison sentence that consumes your life. If you really stop to think about it, all you have in this life is time and I promise you there is more that you can be doing with that time. Your time should be spent taking action to achieve your goals so you can do whatever you want in life.

You can truly have anything, do anything and do more in your life than you have ever imagined. The challenge for most people is being able to truly dream big enough to realize their full potential.

You can change. You just simply have to believe in yourself and remember this: The path toward freedom will not be easy, that is why it is chosen by VERY few. The path to freedom and great wealth will always be a scary ever changing journey that will challenge you every step of the way.

But if we really stop to think about it isn't that how life is anyway? Life is scary, ever changing, the future is always unclear, and the world challenges us every step of the way. Simply because you will have a few more challenges don't go hide behind a job thinking that somehow things will work out in your favor.

There are a large number of people today that wish they had something else to fall back on before the current economic conditions. Go ask any number of retire people that had a pretty decent savings to live off of for the remainder of their lives and now many of them are looking for work.

Many of you will be left to retire and live off of half of what you made while you worked which does not sound very secure, or like a lot of fun to me. All of this because we are all raised and even taught in school that you go to school get your education and then get a job.

Just a few nights ago on the news there was an elderly man (I think his name was Tom) that has to bag groceries because he can't afford to pay his bills on his monthly pension. Tom was a very well paid executive at one time, worked for over 39 years and now because of the down turn in the economy and the losses he sustained in the stock market he is back to bagging groceries.

While Tom is a very nice man and I felt very bad for him, I know that he made this choice a very long time ago. While he did not do anything wrong, he chose the most often traveled path long ago and used to think he had it all figured out as he worked at his job.

During those years he thought he had all the security in the world. All he had to do was just go put in his time in every week, and eventually he could retire and do whatever he wanted. I hope this doesn't sound familiar. If it does you need to do really sit down and ask yourself, what do I want?

Spend more time thinking about what you want and how to achieve your goals it could really change your life. Get off the couch, away from the television, and spend time working on your business and your goals.

There are some very simple, but effective steps that you can follow to change the course of your life for the better:

* Make a set of clear specific goals for yourself

* Decide what actions will be required on your part to achieve these goals.

* Visualize yourself achieving your goals.

* Take Action

There is not a get rich quick scheme out there to solve your problems, but having specific goals and taking action to achieve those goals can lead you to places you may have never imagined possible. Take control of your life and either start a business or if you are already an entrepreneur, take your business to the next level.

Everybody has a great potential within them, just focus on helping people in your area of expertise and you will be amazed at the success that is possible.
